General Description

The main objective of the group is to promote research in the scientific areas of Lexicology, Lexicography and Terminology. The recent theoretical and methodological models of these three sciences are developed in connection with Computational Linguistics : textual oriented computing, lexicomatics, automatic treatment of specialized corpora .

The group develops research in the following fields:

Specialized Corpora : theories and methodologies of corpora constitution.
Automatic treatment of specialized corpora and creation of databases.
Lexicon and automation.
Automatic extraction of multilexemic terms (ExtracTerm)
Computational morphology applied to corpora (Morphocomp).
Creation of tagging systems.
Corpora : constitution of ontologies and terminologies (OntoDomo)
Software (SYNMED) to identify synonyms in medical corpora
Specialized corpora : Terminology and Specialized Lexicography
Specialized Lexicography and the teaching-learning of native and foreign languages
Specialized corpora : REFORTERM : reformulative sequences.
Network of Portuguese Terminology and Neology (NEOTERM)
